Tuesday, May 5th, 2009Connecticut is known for its unique collection of architectural homes. Designs from the 17th to the 21st century are a great tourist attraction. A zigzag border in the west and south separates Connecticut from New York. To the north is the huge state of Massachusetts and to the south east coast, Rhode Island. The five counties of; River Valley, Litchford Hills, Great New Haven, Fairfield County and Mystic County also offer much in the way of boating, sailing, river rafting, golf, camping and hiking trails, biking and historical sites.
A synopsis of the areas to visit are:
- River Valley – is the venue for boating, sailing, white water rafting, golf and bi-plane flights. Arsonia has nature trails to see the beautiful wild flowers, or viewing from balloon flights.
- Litchford Hills – Has parks and state forests with hiking trails or fishing as popular activities. Woodhaven is known for its Nature Center, trails, Library of animal exhibits and Golf courses. Bloomfield has biking and historical sites.
- Great New Haven – Has sea and river boating and kyak rides to and around the Thimbe islands and Connecticut River. Ballooning is also a popular sport.
- Fairfield County – Has it Black Rock Harbor tours.
- Mystic County – With its fine seaport where one can still take a ride on a steamboat.
- Connecticut is also a very popular residential county. Being close to New York State, it has the attractions of a country and waterways lifestyle away from the congested commercial areas.
