ALABAMA

“Alabama, sweet Alabama” as the musical goes, aptly describes this southern state. Tourism venues, sights and activities abound to delight and entertain the local as well as the visitor. With the largest city Birmingham at its center, the air transportation hub serves the state around it. It’s now a medical’ financial and cultural center for Alabama and has its own dazzling array of tourism attractions.

“Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, the Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Southern Museum of Flight, Vulcan Park, McLane Center, Alabama Adventure Theme Park and the Birmingham Zoo.” The magnificent golf courses, race course, restaurants, food festivals, music festivals, museums, botanical gardens and sporting events all contribute to make it a springboard to other venues and sights in and around the state.

Listing the places to see and things to do is daunting task, but some of the following may be a guide:
Native American Indian (Creek) tribes left behind their historical legacy in mounds, artifacts and relics that are now proudly on display in museums, markets and sites.  The attractions of outdoor sporting events, from organized sports like golf to individual activities in State Parks like hiking, hunting, camping, Fishing, to biking, waters ports, swimming and diving in the Gulf Coast or boating on the rivers and pristine lakes.
In and around Alabama are many Water and amusement parks, zoos and aquariums, wildlife centers, estuaries, aviaries and petting zoos.

Interesting events are Wine, Music and Food Festivals from April to October, with monthly rotating themes, Helen Keller festival, Juneteenth Celebration, Choctaw County Heritage Festival, W.C Handy Music Festival, Festhalle Market Platz and Fort Morgan Candlelight tour.
